The Narcisa Sugar Cane Mill became famous in history since the independence, including Las Villas campaign. It had a strong tradition of struggle during the neocolonial republic. The declared area, which is properly delimited, is within the lands of the sugar cane mill that has a square tower built in 1890, a flagpole that was used by the General Maximo Gomez to raise for the first time the Cuban flag without the presence of any foreign force, a Spanish fort, the headquarters of Camilo during the taking of Yaguajay and the slave barracks that was built between 1860 and 1873. |
