Cuba: The Wealth of the Sea

The Cuban archipelago, a key element in the Caribbean tourism industry, boasts excellent conditions for tourism, benefiting from the breathtaking beauty of the seascapes surrounding the island nation.

Dozens of tourist sites along the coast and a tropical climate attract thousands of foreign vacationers every year.

Exuberant nature, centuries-old traditions and history go hand in hand in a territory that covers an area of more than 110,000 square kilometers and has nearly 5,800 kilometers of coastline, including 600 kilometers of beautiful beaches.

The Cuban capital offers excellent beaches as part of the so-called Circuito Azul (Blue Circuit), which runs along 15 kilometers on the north coast and where Santa María del Mar stands out as one of the most beautiful beaches in the region.

In western Cuba, the world-famous Varadero beach, which runs along 22 kilometers on the Hicacos peninsula, is one of the most visited destinations by foreign vacationers.

In neighboring Havana province, Jibacoa attracts thousands of tourists every year who enjoy its crystal-clear waters and peculiar shape, flanked by hills that are up to 100 meters high and run parallel to the coast, providing a pleasant sense of privacy.

In addition, Bibijagua beach, on Isla de la Juventud (Isle of Youth), is famous for its black sand, while Marea del Portillo, in eastern Granma province, is characterized by its brown sand.

In the central region of the island is the Ancón Peninsula, which boasts one of the best beaches in Cuba's south coast, offering divers breathtakingly beautiful sea bottoms and large colonies of black corals.

Jardines del Rey (King's Gardens) is one of the fastest-growing destinations in the Caribbean Island where vacationers can enjoy 30 kilometers of excellent pristine beaches on Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo, and the highest dunes in the Caribbean region (15 meters).

Eastern Cuba is another major tourist region, especially Holguín, where Bariay, the place where Admiral Christopher Columbus first arrived in 1492, is located. The world-known beaches of Guardalavaca, Esmeralda and Pesquero are the main tourist destinations in the province.

Being close to nature from a beach or city adds value to Cuba's tourist product, which also attracts tourists interested in learning about the island's situation and its countryside life.

Natural and biosphere reserves, natural landscapes and protected areas make up a wide range of offers that are well preserved and are unique in the region.

The Caribbean Island also offers more than 70,000 square kilometers of insular platform and some 5,000 kilometers of coasts, which are bathed by the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, a paradise for diving enthusiasts.
