The diversity of tourist options in Cuba is complemented by the country's cultural wealth, including expressions such as literature, which attracts thousands of visitors every year.
One of those options is the International Book Fair Cuba-2014, whose 23rd edition will exhibit more than 700 titles of a wide range of literary genres.
Ecuador will be the guest of honor at the fair, where 2.5 million books from 138 exhibitors from all over the world will be available for the public.
The Morro-Cabaña historic-military park will be the main venue of the fair, so it will become a site of pilgrimage for thousands of Havana residents interested in meeting their literary needs.
As part of this year's program, a colloquium on anthropology and archeology will be held for the first time in the framework of the book fair with the participation of Ecuadorian, Cuban and Mexican experts.
Other venues of the fair will be the University of Havana, as well as other institutions and sites in the Havana sector of El Vedado.
Aimed at promoting the best national and international literature, this edition of the Havana Book Fair will be dedicated to the 200th birthday of Cuban poetess Gertrudis Gomez de Avellaneda, and the 100th birthdays of Cuban authors Samuel Feijóo and Onelio Jorge Cardoso.
The fair will also be held in other provincial capitals of the country.
Cuba complements the beauty of its coasts and exuberant nature with its cultural wealth and traditions, which are essential components of the country's tourist product.
The fusion of races and customs, in a process that lasted several centuries, created a unique culture of African, aboriginal, Chinese, French and, of course, Spanish origins, thus resulting in a one-of-a-kind mixture.
Precisely, that rich cultural heritage, forged for several years, is a major attraction for thousands of foreign tourists who spend their vacations in Cuba every year.
Cities with plenty of exponents of Spanish-colonial architecture in a perfect state of preservation, hotels linked to plastic arts, historic sites and a busy program of celebrations and festivities make up Cuba's tourist offer.
Cuba also has 120 art galleries, antique shops and plastic art halls, in addition to nearly 260 museums and more than 80 theaters.
Cuba's cultural program includes many meetings, workshops, festivals, congresses and specialized courses, designed for everyone.
