Cuba: Winter Agenda for Tourism

Cuba, which is located in the Caribbean region, faces the challenge of a winter season for foreign tourism, with a growing presence of vacationers from different parts of the world.

Starting in November and until April next year, Cuba's tourism industry will receive thousands of vacationers who escape from low temperatures in the countries to enjoy the Caribbean island's climate.

In fact, this time of the year is precisely the one preferred by vacationers from Europe and Canada, among other tourist-sending markets, to visit Cuba's major coastal resorts.

Airports, hotels, recreational centers, car-rental offices and travel agencies work together to assimilate the increase in foreign tourist arrivals.

Just after the summer is over, a period in which domestic tourism reaches its peak, hotels and extrahotel facilities are prepared to receive the influx of foreign travelers.

Generally, airlines increase their frequencies to Cuba's tourist destinations and add charter flights.

Moreover, Cuba's fauna consists of some 16,500 described species, including some zoological groups that have an endemism of more than 90 percent.

Natural and biosphere reserves, natural landscapes, national parks and protected areas create a wide range of offers, marked by their richness, excellent preservation and unique characteristics in the region.

Cuba also offers 120 art galleries, antique shops and art exhibitions, in addition to nearly 260 museums and more than 80 theaters.

In addition, the country has a hotel infrastructure of nearly 340 establishments totaling more than 60,500 rooms.
