Cuba: Information for Tourism

Cuba, a tourist destination par excellence in the Caribbean, offers a wide range of tourist options, from traditional sun and beaches to adventures, culture and nature.

Sports and ecotourism are incorporated into this environment, with support from institutions such as the National Tourist Information Office (INFOTUR) and its network of centers.

Twenty seven years of experience guarantee the results of that institution, which aims to provide all tourist information about Cuba as a destination, before and during your stay in the country, making your tourist experience more pleasant.

As a new element, INFOTUR facilitates access to an official site with geolocated information from all over Cuba. The website is available in five languages and provides visitors with the necessary maps to move around the Caribbean island.

In addition, it supports the development of the congress modality throughout the country, for which visitors need timely and detailed information.

Through the services of INFOTUR, holidaymakers can access general information about the country on such topics as climate, currency, political organization and society.

In addition, visitors will have access to a new tourist guide on recreational options in Cuba, whose printed material will be ready in 2019.

In this regard, the information centers seek to increase the provision of contents in print, due to the high demand from foreign visitors, even though they can access the data through electronic media.

In order to respond to the demands from vacationers, INFOTUR works together with hotel chains to place, in each of its facilities, a large format map with information on sites of interest.

A map was already posted in the emblematic Hotel Nacional de Cuba and the option will be implemented in the short term in all the hotels in the cities of Havana, Varadero, Holguin, Santa Clara, Ciego de Avila and Santiago de Cuba.

INFOTUR also provides elements related to the main tourist destinations on the island, including Havana, Varadero, Jardines del Rey, Holguin, Trinidad, Cienfuegos, Pinar del Rio, Cayo Largo, Santa Lucia, the Zapata Peninsula and Matanzas, just to mention some.

It should be said that Cuba's lodging infrastructure consists of 69,041 rooms, including 63 percent of those rooms in four- and five-star hotels, and 74 percent in beach areas.

In addition, 17 cruise companies operate nationwide with 25 ships, while 70 airlines fly from and to 73 major cities in the world and 27 joint ventures operate in the country with more than 5,000 rooms.

As an additional element, the private sector is present in Cuban tourism with more than 23,000 rooms to accommodate visitors and about 2,000 private restaurants.
