Granma Reports Good Health Indicators
Monday, August 27, 2007

Havana.- Health indicators in the eastern Cuban province of Granma have improved over the past few years, as a result of the enlargement of the region's medical infrastructure.

The province has 23 hospitals, including six in rural areas, where General Integral Medical services are provided.

Granma also has 30 polyclinics – some of which are undergoing modernization works –, five dental clinics and 967 Family Doctor's offices.

The province also has seven nursing homes, 132 pharmacies, a center to treat HIV-AIDS patients and a faculty to teach Medical Sciences.

In addition, the mother-child program has been successful in both reducing mortality rates and improving care of mothers and children.
