Cuban Novel Wins Literature Award in Portugal |

Havana.- The 2008 Literary Creation Award from the Latin American House in Portugal was granted to the novel "En el Cielo con Diamantes" (In the Sky with Diamonds), by Cuban author Senel Paz.
The jury chose Paz's novel unanimously among 21 contestants.
The decision was based on the novel's narrative quality, criticism, love and tenderness when depicting a complex and emotional portray of a fundamental generation in the Cuban Revolution.
The jury also noted that the novel benefits from the richest Latin American, Cuban and Spanish literary traditions and combines an epistolary style with the plurality of viewpoints.
The plot of the novel, which was named after one of the most famous songs by The Beatles (Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds), takes place in Havana in the 1960s and tells a story on the search for love and friendship.
The biennial award was first granted in 2006 to "El Vuelo de la Rana (The Frog's Flight), by Argentinean author Tomás Eloy Martínez. The book was printed by the Portuguese publishing house Ediciones Asa.
