Costa Rica Reports Increased Tourist Arrivals

San José.- Tourist arrivals in Costa Rica increased 15 percent during the first five months of 2008, compared to the same period last year.

According to official statistics, 848,000 foreign vacationers visited the country from January to May 2008.

The National Tourism Chamber (Canatur) estimated that Costa Rica would receive 2.1 million tourists this year, accounting for an increase of 200,000 vacationers in contrast to last year.

Travelers come to Costa Rica to enjoy its sun and beaches, nature, adventures and ecotourism.

They also come for rural tourism, congresses and conventions, and health tourism.
