Sports Fishing in Jardines del Rey
Monday, November 3, 2008

Havana.- Jardines del Rey (King's Gardens), a tourist destination in the eastern Cuban province of Ciego de Avila, hosted an international sports fishing tournament.

The event, which was dedicated to the 15th anniversary of that tourist resort, brought together five 11-strong teams from Canada, Great Britain, and Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo, who captured 29 fish weighing 30-50 pounds each.

Experts pointed out that the tournament showed Jardines del Rey's potentialities to host similar events every year.

Jardines del Rey's exploitation as a tourist destination began in 1993, when the first hotel was inaugurated on Cayo Coco. Since then, the resort, which has more than 3,000 rooms, has been developed steadily.
