Cuba to Compete in C.Am Special Olympics

Havana.- Cuba will participate in the 1st Central American and Caribbean Special Olympics, scheduled for late November in Costa Rica.

Nine Cuban athletes will compete in track and field, swimming and weightlifting, in a tournament that will be attended by athletes from 14 countries.

That movement, which groups people with different mental disabilities, is made up of more than two million athletes, including 58,000 Cubans, from over 150 countries.

Cuban athletes practice 17 sports, as part of authorities' efforts to meet those people's needs and incorporate them into society.
