Carnivals Boost Domestic Tourism in Venezuela
Monday, February 23, 2009

Caracas.- February's carnival season contributes to boosting domestic tourism in Venezuela, where 14 million people travel throughout the country.

Sources from the tourism sector pointed out that a program called "The Route is Venezuela, 2009 Carnivals" will be put in place to mobilize travelers to major tourist destinations, including beaches, mountains, prairies and forests.

Venezuela has 3,900 lodging facilities totaling 114,000 rooms distributed in hotels, inns, hostels and camps.

The project cover from the Andean region (the states of Mérida, Trujillo and Táchira), characterized by low temperatures and freezing water, to the northeastern region (Anzoátegui, Sucre and Nueva Esparta).

It also includes the country's prairies (Portuguesa, Barinas, Guárico and Apure) which are rich in fauna and flora, and the central costal region (Aragua, Miranda, Vargas and Distrito Capital).
