Cuban Music in Costa Rica

Havana.- The Cuban string orchestra Camerata Romeu will give a concert at the 21st Credomatic Music Festival in the Costa Rican capital in late August.

The group, directed by Zenaida Romeu and made up of women, has earned great international prestige due to its excellent performances.

On this occasion, Camerata Romeu will perform at the National Theater, where it will play music by Cuban composers José White, Carlos Fariñas, Abelardo Valdés and Silvio Rodríguez, among others.

Founded in 1991, on the 200th anniversary of Austrian musician Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's death, the festival has grown and gained popularity.

According to official statistics, more than 1,000 musicians from 47 countries have given some 700 concerts in natural scenarios in Costa Rica over the past 20 years.
