Cuba's Longest Balcony in Camagüey
Monday, August 22, 2011

Havana.- The city of Camagüey, the capital of the eastern Cuban province of the same name, holds the country's longest balcony, which is 45 meters long.

The balcony is outside the Inn El Camino de Hierro, which was inaugurated recently in the city's historic heart, designated Humankind's Cultural Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Located on the former La Soledad Square, the inn shows that curious section, which was restored recently. The wooden balcony is covered by the tiled roof of the two-story building.

According to references, the original balcony of the building, constructed nearly 300 years ago, was replaced by an iron-wrought balcony with no roof in the late 19th century or early 20th century.
