Cuba's western city of Matanzas, which is widely known because of its many attractions, ranging from the world-famous beach resort of Varadero and the Zapata Swamp, complements its offers for tourism with night cultural options.

Many museums, natural landscapes and a peculiar architectural style in the capital city of Matanzas form part of the many options available for vacationers, now including the Tropicana Matanzas nightclub.

Its location on the left bank of the Canimar River, just a few kilometers from Varadero, gives Tropicana Matanzas a special meaning, since it has become a new possibility of enjoyment for thousands of vacationers who visit the Blue Beach, as Varadero is also known, every year.

Matanzas's new nightclub, run by the group Gran Caribe, is the smallest of the three members of a family in which the Havana cabaret is the queen of all night establishment on the largest Antillean Island.

Inside Tropicana Matanzas, an 18-by-11-meter stained-glass window created by the Cuban artist Ernesto García Peña is considered by many experts the biggest in America.

Iron-wrought railings by Luciano Rafar, along with works by sculptor Tomás Lara, complete the establishment's decoration.

Experts regard Tropicana Matanzas as a masterpiece, complemented by architectural and technical solutions and the beauty of the setting surrounding the nightclub, in addition to a genuinely Cuban show on stage since its inauguration.

A show called "Las Alturas de Simpson" (Simpson's Heights), in allusion to a song composed in 1879 and considered the first formal exponent of "danzón" on the largest Antillean Island, a musical genre that originated in Matanzas, was created precisely for the opening.

The show also included other musical genres such as bolero, mambo, son and the unique Afro-Cuban rhythms, artistically combined to create an unforgettable night in the cozy atmosphere of the Caribbean island.
