Monument erected to pay tribute to military engineer Francisco de Albear y Lara, who designed and led the construction of an aqueduct, named after him, to supply water to Havana. It was the most important engineering work of the 19th century. The natural size sculpture, made of marble from, Carrara, was done in Italy by Cuban sculptor José de Villalta y Saavedra in 1893, was inaugurated in March, 1895. |
