It dates from 1856, uniting the famous Café Escauriza and the neighboring building. It has remained the same in size and appearance since 1891. A historical place, it was the site of a protest by a Spanish General against the shooting of eight medicine students in 1871. José Martí stayed in it. In 1890 it accommodated Antonio Maceo. Outstanding are its Sevillean courtyard, its location and its magnificent views. It is the oldest open hotel in Cuba. |
