Description |
Unquestionably, this is one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in Cuba. Founded as the Alicia Alonso Ballet in the early 1950s, it became the National Ballet of Cuba in 1959 and, since then, has scored countless successes, both at home, in the Gran Theater of Havana, and abroad. The history of this company is shown in the National Museum of the Dance, which was inaugurated in the Vedado part of town on the 50th anniversary of the ballet company's founding. |
