| The sugar cane mill was built between 1857 and 1860. On January 7, 1896, it was the scene of a battle waged by the General Antonio Maceo against the Spanish army. Most of the buildings were partially destroyed when set on fire by the Mambises. Today, the ruins of the slave barrack hut, industrial parts and the tower, are still preserved. |
