It is a two-story building from the late l9th century, basically neoclassical but with certain eclectic influences. It was renovated at he beginning of the 2Oth century for commercial use. At the moment, it is the seat of the House of the Poetry, aimed at promoting the work of poets and poetesses and the exchange of Cuban writers with heir foreign friends. It has the only library specialized in poetry, whose shelves keep increasing with books and periodical publications from ah over the world and particularly on Cuban poetry. This work is enriched with a reference service of authors, publications and contests. It holds lectures, book launchings, literary gatherings and poem-reading session, as well as temporary exhibitions and literary workshops for children and adults. |
