Description |
This park is located in the Province of Pinar del Río, and it is part of the Sierra de los Organos mountain range. It covers an area of 21 600 hectares and is one of the most well known ecologic zones of Cuba at the international level because of its noticeable scenic and landscape, botanical and fauna values. The area also treasures the largest cavern systems of Cuba. In Viñales you will be able to see the most authentic vegetation of flat top mountains (mogotes) in the country: palms, trees, woody bushes and pulpy plants; with a high number of endemism such as the case of the Ceibón, the Cayman Oak, the Palmita de Sierra and in some places the Corcho Palm, a valuable Cuban plant fossil. There is also a great variety of autochthonous bird fauna species that make the area very appropriate for the observation of birds. |
