| Its was built in 1645 and declared National Monument. According to the defensive plan of the city, the fort was located at the mouth of today’s river Almendares – formerly named LaChorrera – on the west part of Havana. So together with Cojimar fort, it strengthened the protection of both sides of the entrance of the bay. Currently it is a tourist center and a specialized restaurant in Spanish cuisine. |
